At the Osaka Station Bus Terminal, we rescued a Japanese honeybee (Apis cerana japonica) and something amazing happened. It seems to have taken a liking to Hattori Ryokuchi Park and has enthusiastically begun raising its young.
Japanese honeybees are smaller than European honeybees, so they cannot use existing honeycomb frames. This time, we only provided the outer frame and allowed them to build their own nest.
They have densely built their nest within the empty frame and have started the parenting process. Considering the progress so far, we can assume that they have successfully settled. We will continue to observe their development.
However, the hexagons are so tiny!
To be continued.
